JULIAN MONATZEDER

Julian Monatzeder studied theatre studies at LMU Munich and directing for film and television at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, where he received his Master of Film & TV in 2015 with his graduation film THE BLESSED LINE, a period drama about the Australian gold rush.

 

Since then, he has worked on numerous international documentary and feature film projects, in addition to Australia and Germany in Peru, Poland, Great Britain and Lithuania. His documentary children's film DANIELA UND MICHE (2015) deals with the everyday life of Peruvian street children. The documentary IF YOU DON'T KNOW (2020) takes the perspective of a group of young people who are developing a dance and theatre play on the subject of National Socialism. The film premiered at DOK.fest Munich 2020. In 2016, Julian founded the film production FITZROY FILM , which produces corporate films as well as documentaries.

 

He also stages plays. TOLLER by Tankred Dorst (2019) deals with the time of the Munich Soviet Republic and its relation to the political protests of the 1960s. The play was resumed for the third time in spring 2020. In the summer of 2021, his piece UM 2 UHR NOCHMAL KAFFEE, developed with dance choreographer Dorothee Janssen and 11 young people, premiered at the theater festival Rampenlichter in Munich.
